This Laboratory provides the following services to all of its users:

 
•Information on the characteristics in Nutritive Value and Chemical Composition (energy, protein, fiber and minerals) of feeds and raw materials devoted to feed animals (rations, pastures, silage, hay).

•Drawing up a Guide for the Feeding of Ruminants, in which the characteristics of the different feedstuffs available in the country are summarized (Publication: ‘Serie Técnica 142’).

•Updating and training activities for interpretation of laboratory results, formulating rations and feed characteristics.

•Handling a data base for feeds with a national coverage.

The information on the Nutritive Value is obtained from the chemical analysis at the laboratory where Crude Protein, Neutral Fiber, Acid Fiber, Energy, Dry Matter and Total Minerals, are determined amongst other components.
