Cattle and Sheep

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
 
Improving the competitiveness and economic performance of meat and wool producers in Uruguay in order to contribute to their economic welfare, and increasing the quantity, quality and efficiency of production processes and products through the identification, adaptation, formulation, development and transfer of different technological options. All this should be achieved taking into account the requirements of the different value chain agents and domestic and foreign consumers, while responsibly managing sustainability.

  • Quantitative and genomic genetic improvement of cattle and sheep.
  • Cattle and sheep reproduction.
  • Precision technology for backgrounding and fattening sheep and catlle.
  • Socio-economic analysis of the adoption of technology.
  • Cattle and sheep health.
  • Quality of products and processes: meat and wool in the meat chain and the textile-wool chain.
  • Productive and economic modeling and simulation in different production systems.
  • Food safety.
  • Animal welfare.
  • Economic, social and environmental impact of the proposed technologies.
