Brief History
1964 –Established initially as a center for horticultural research within the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock by the name of "Centro de Investigaciones en Fruticultura, Vitivinicultura y Horticultura"
1972 –Under the reorganization of CIAAB (Centro de Investigaciones Agrícolas "Alberto Boerger)", “Las Brujas” Experiment Station became a part of CIAAB, together with “La Estanzuela” (presently INIA-La Estanzuela) and “Litoral Norte” (now INIA-Salto Grande) Experiment Stations. Besides, two other stations were established within CIAAB at such time, the Northern Agricultural Experiment Station (now INIA-Tacuarembó) and the Eastern A.R.S.(now INIA-Treinta y Tres).
1989 –The Instituto Nacional de Investigación Agropecuaria (INIA) was created by the National Law 16.065; Las Brujas Experiment Station becoming then “INIA-Las Brujas”, as one of INIA’s regional centers.
