Performance of nymphs and adults of Piezodorus guildinii (Westwood) feeding on different cultivated legumes was studied under controlled laboratory conditions (25 ± 1°C, 80 ± 10% RH, 14 h of photophase) on soybean immature pod (SIP; R5.5?R6), birdsfoot trefoil immature pod (BTIP), alfalfa immature pod (AIP), and red clover flower with immature seeds (RCF). Food had significant effects on the life history of P. guildinii.

ABSTRACT. The objective of this study was the quantification of the effects of intra-annual and seasonal agro-climate variability over market conditions, for ?open sky? livestock production systems such as those prevailing in Uruguay. Permanent conditions (soil type, including productivity and water storage capacity), pastures seasonal average growth cycles) will be discriminated from not permanent conditions (intra-annual and seasonal climate variability), identifying regional patterns using iso-price maps.

ABSTRACT. This research analyzed the economic performance of Uruguay beef export chain in two different years. Global profits during 2010 reached US$ 985.5 per ton, growing to US$ 1,374.9 in 2013. The proportion captured by private agents decreased from 30% in 2010 to only 10% in 2013. The rest was left on the table as net transfers towards other sectors of the economy. Direct transfers derived from taxes explained between 13% in 2010 and 30% in 2013.

ABSTRACT. This article analyzed the weight of land in the economic performance of the primary livestock production sector, using the policy analysis matrix (PAM). The financial cost of the assets immobilized with the land factor was considered through its opportunity cost (OC).

El manejo del riego ha demostrado tener un impacto sobre las emisiones de metano (CH4) y óxido nitroso (N2O) en el cultivo de arroz. El riego con déficit controlado, el cual disminuye el período bajo inundación, ha sido reportado como una importante herramienta para atenuar las emisiones de metano. Sin embargo este manejo del riego podría incrementar las emisiones de óxido nitroso y reducir el rendimiento. Por lo tanto, es importante analizar las posibles compensaciones entre las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) y la productividad.
