Introduction: The development and growth of the dairy industry across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) has been historically driven by a combination of:(i) the domestic demand for fresh milk, butter and cheese from the urban population; (ii) the influence of skilled European immigrants with a dairy farming culture and; (iii) the suitability of the climate and lands for both feed and animal production (Gómez and Zubizarreta, 2013). With the growth of urban settlements, dairy farming also grew in order to provide a source of income and milk consumption for families.

RESUMEN.- La aplicación de fertilizantes, asociada a la intensificación de la actividad agropecuaria, ha incrementado la pérdida de nutrientes desde los sitios de agricultura hacia los cuerpos de agua. Contar con coeficientes de exportación de nutrientes, específicos de los usos del suelo de cada sitio, es importante para cuantificar impactos sobre la calidad de agua.

Material de apoyo a los apicultores generado en el ámbito del Grupo de Trabajo de Buenas Prácticas Apícolas para la alimentación de las colmenas, con la participación de Felipe Arburua, Gerald Atrio, Belén Branchiccela, Juan Campá, Néstor Causa, Federico Coll, Mauricio Grajales, Jorge Harriet, Rosana Díaz, Alejandro Fachola, Gustavo Fripp, Felipe Marín, Estela Santos y Néstor Viera.

Esta publicación presenta los resultados de una Evaluación de Diseño, realizada sobre la convocatoria del Fondo de Promoción de Tecnología Agropecuaria (FPTA) 2019. En el marco del convenio entre INIA y OPYPA (MGAP), las áreas de evaluación de ambas instituciones acordaron intercambiar experiencias y apoyo mutuo, con el objetivo de fortalecer las capacidades de ambos organismos. Esta publicación se divide en 4 artículos. En el artículo 1 se describe la metodología empleada en esta evaluación.

ABSTRACT.- Grasslands are endangered habitats through the world. Among its threats, land-use change has been recognized as one of the most important drivers of biodiversity decline. Sustainable livestock farming can be important conserving grasslands and preserving their biodiversity, and particularly in Uruguay are extensive and are carried out based on natural grasslands with little external management. However, in recent years there has been an increasing in land-use change, replacing natural grasslands with cultivated pastures, leading to a homogenization of the environments.
